Besides the lovely, thoughtful gift from Absa, Nemato Spar, Port Alfred, very generously sponsored and spoilt all the ladies with a bag filled with Spar goodies!!
The hostess, Mrs. Stern, invited well known owner of Karoo Moon, Mrs. Judi Sheard, to address the ladies on How to start your own business as a farmer's wife! Mrs. Sheard was born and raised in the Eastern Cape. Schooled at a farm school before going to KHS in King Williams Town and then to Kingswood College in Grahamstown where she matriclutated.
After a year at Rhodes, went on to complete a diploma in office administration then spent 2 years working at Old Mutual in Cape Town after which she went to England where she worked and travelled for a year. On returning to her parent’s farm near Kei Road, met and married her husband, Howard.
They returned to the Sheard family farm in the Sneeuberg in 1990 where they farmed until 2010 and presently still own the farm but now live and work in East London.
Judi and her neighbour, Lisa Watermeyer embarked on a business venture where they started to bottle product under the label Karoo Moon. Judi was at that stage working with wool which she continued as a business which her late mother had started. After a few years Lisa withdrew from Karoo Moon. It was soon after this that the wool was then also then sold under the Karoo Moon label.
Judi continues to run the business from her garage in East London. All the ladies were treated to a bottle of absolute bliss from the Karoo Moon Bottled Range.
Ds. Daniël de Kock is a man with passion for life, passion for God, passion for humanity!! He is a brilliant entertainer and he entertained the ladies with his humoristic way of looking at life! He encouraged them to be Women with Humor and Passion! He is well-known as "Die Sous Dominee" as he has his own range of sauces and spices.
