Located in the Kirkwood region of the Eastern Cape the Bedrogfontein Route 4×4 Trail is situated as part of the Addo Elephant National Park and offers spectacular views of the Sundays River.
Nestled between Kabouga and Darlington, the 45km trail is best suited to a 4×4, low range, high clearance vehicle and can be travelled from the former to the latter or vice versa.
The six-hour route features authentic rock art paintings along the trail and is set against the backdrop of battles fought between the British and Boer troops during the Anglo-Boer war.
Visit the SANParks website for more information.
The self-driven 4×4 trail features stunning Karoo vegetation including riverine thicket, afromontane forest, and fynbos.
For a weekend away while traversing the trails, accommodation is available at the Kabouga Cottage or Addo’s Mvubu campsite.
