Middelburg Karoo Tourism proudly presents the very first Karoo Winter Wool Festival! The Festival provides a unique experience that promotes one of the products the Karoo is most famous for - wool! All of the events on the festival programme are for the whole family to enjoy - and all showcasing Merino wool in the middle of winter in- and around this special Karoo town!
On the Friday a Winter Wool "Skuurdans" will take place at Rusoord Farm featuring Afrikaans artist, Riaan Benadé. The Sir Herbert Baker Route will also be launched by the Middelburg Museum in the afternoon.
On the Saturday Beskuitfontein Trails will be hosting a Winter Wool Trail Run and Mountain Biking event featuring well-marked routes in the scenic mountainous eastern Karoo. This event will be followed by a Winter Wool Market at Dwarsvlei farm which includes a speaker programme, wool workshops, woolen product market, wool exhibition, food stalls, children's entertainment and more! Karoo Roos Padstal will also be open till 14h00 showcasing their unique Merino History and selling their delicious lamb pies and woolen products.
On the Sunday a lovely breakfast will be on offer at Picadilli's Coffee Shop followed by a community church service at the Middelburg NG Church. Bookings for the Picadilli's breakfast are to be made directly, and not via the Quicket online system.

The festival is aimed at creating awareness and interest in one of the most sustainable and special products South Africa has to offer - wool! It is organised by Middelburg Karoo Tourism which is made up by local community members and is proudly sponsored by OVK, Cape Wools SA, BKB and Core Merino.
