The Enoch Mgijima Farmers' Union consists of 11 Agricultural Associations namely, Hofmeyr, Tarkastad, Winterberg, Kwartkei, Klaassmits, Sterkstroom, Birds River, Molteno, Queenstown & Distrik, Tylden and Henderson.
Agri EC attended an Enoch Mgijima meeting last week to give Chairpersons, secretaries and delegated members from these specific AAs the opportunity to ask questions or address concerns. This was also a great chance for some of the Agri EC staff members to meet and interact with members. Agri EC covered portfolios such as Rural Safety, Communications and Young Farmers.
It was a very successful meeting as members got answers and clarification to any concerns they may have had, and Agri EC had the opportunity to carry their message across to the members. The theme of the meeting was "Communication with Agri Eastern Cape". Communication is extremely important between Agri EC and its members due to Agri EC being the voice of the farmer. We need to know what is happening in the Eastern Cape with crime, eskom, roads, etc. in order to solve those problems, whether it be positive or negative.
Agri Eastern Cape strives to develop and grow the agricultural industry as a sustainable economic sector and most importantly protect and stand behind the farmers of the Eastern Cape.
